Therapy Approach

Every person brings a unique combination of life experiences, relationships, strengths, and challenges. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, therapy is tailored to your individual circumstances, goals, and pace.

I work with adults and young people experiencing emotional difficulties, relationship challenges, trauma, stress, anxiety, and other concerns that may be affecting daily life. Therapy aims not only to reduce current distress, but also to understand the emotional and relational patterns that contribute to ongoing difficulties. Developing this understanding often creates opportunities for more sustainable and meaningful change.

My work integrates evidence-based psychological approaches, including Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Depending on your needs, therapy may focus on practical coping strategies, emotional processing, interpersonal patterns, or deeper exploration of long-standing experiences. The therapeutic process is collaborative, respectful, and guided by your individual needs rather than a fixed treatment formula.

Session structure

Appointments are available both in person at my Melbourne practice and via secure telehealth.

A standard therapy session is 50 minutes. During the first appointment, we will discuss what has brought you to therapy, explore your current concerns, and consider your goals and expectations. Together, we will determine whether my approach is likely to be a good fit for your needs.

The frequency and duration of therapy vary from person to person. Some clients attend for support around a specific life challenge, while others choose longer-term therapy to explore enduring emotional or relationship patterns. Recommendations are discussed collaboratively and reviewed throughout the therapeutic process to ensure therapy remains relevant and responsive to your progress.

Additional services

In addition to psychological therapy, I also provide a range of professional psychological services where appropriate.

Psychological assessments and reports

Psychological assessments can help provide a more comprehensive understanding of an individual's emotional, cognitive, behavioural, or personality functioning. They may also be requested by a third party, or when you have been asked to obtain a psychological assessment or report for a specific purpose.

Depending on the referral question, assessments may contribute to treatment planning, diagnostic clarification, recommendations for further support, or the preparation of a psychological report where appropriate.

If your enquiry relates to a psychological assessment, please feel free to contact the clinic. I can discuss your referral question, clarify the purpose of the assessment, and advise whether it is a service I provide. If your needs fall outside my scope of practice, I will do my best to direct you to a more appropriate assessment service where possible.

Clinical supervision

Clinical supervision is available for psychologists and other mental health professionals seeking reflective practice, case consultation, or professional development.

I am an AHPRA Board-approved supervisor. My supervision style places particular emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, interpersonal process, family dynamics, and biopsychosocial case formulation. I also have a particular interest in working with clinicians supporting clients from Asian and multicultural backgrounds, navigating cross-cultural issues, and working with presentations involving complex trauma.

Depending on the clinician's goals and level of experience, supervision may involve developing formulation skills, strengthening therapeutic relationships, reflecting on clinical process, exploring cultural and systemic influences, and navigating ethical or practice-related challenges.
